Established in 2013, the Youth Summit is an annual event held by the World Bank Group (WBG) to engage with youth globally on the most pressing topics facing their generation. The primary goals of the Summit are to (1) empower youth to explore innovative ideas for tackling development challenges, (2) provide youth with the tools to build and engage in impactful projects, and (3) promote dialogue between youth, the WBG, and other key stakeholders globally.

In 1978, my father, Yonas Biru, fled Ethiopia to escape a reign of terror imposed by a communist junta. His endeavor was risky. Anyone who was caught fleeing was shot dead on the spot. The World Bank is recruiting a Senior Economist based in Sierra Leone who will work with the Practice, based in a client country in West and Central Africa. The selected candidate will be an integral part of the country team and the global MFM GP, and will report to the MFM Practice Manager based in Washington DC. Key responsibilities include: (i) Leading key operational and analytical tasks; (ii) conducting detailed analysis of selected policy areas; (iii) carrying out policy dialogue with the Government as needed; and (iv) working closely with the Program Leader and rest of the MFM team to ensure timely and high quality delivery of MFM products. - Ph.D. students from Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly women, are eligible to apply for the World Bank Group Africa Fellowship Program
- World Bank Group Fellows will spend a minimum of six months getting hands-on experience at World Bank headquarters in Washington D.C., or country offices
- Fellows will work on economic policy, technical assistance to countries, and lending for eliminating poverty and increasing shared prosperity
