International Education Week 2019

International students have a major positive impact on American communities, enriching U.S. classrooms with new perspectives, contributing nearly $45 billion to the U.S. economy, and supporting over 455,000 U.S. jobs last year.

The State Department’s global network of 435 EducationUSA advising centers in 178 countries promotes U.S. higher education to students around the world by offering accurate, comprehensive, and current information about opportunities to study at accredited postsecondary institutions in the United States.

We are also engaging in key markets like China, India, Colombia, and Brazil.  Through print, TV, and radio interviews, we are reinforcing the message that we welcome international students.  In India we have created an EducationUSA advising app to allow students connect to our EducationUSA advisors virtually.

The State Department continues to support and broaden participation in U.S.-sponsored exchange programs, including the Fulbright Program, the Critical Language Scholarship Program, and the Gilman Program.
