2018 Marks the 100th birthday of Nelson Mandela. As part of our Youth Engagement and Multicultural Awareness Program, the Mayor’s Office on African Affairs invites you to Fourth Annual Young African ConneXions Summit, themed “Living the Legacy” commemorating the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela. The summit will feature the 2018 Mandela Washington Fellows for Young African Leaders Initiative(MWF-YALI), based at Howard University, community members in the District of Columbia, the African Diaspora Community, policy makers and civic leaders, engaged in a platform for a discussion around advocacy, volunteerism, leadership and community engagement, all inspired by the Madiba.
As part of our Youth Engagement and Multicultural Awareness Program, the Mayor’s Office on African Affairs (MOAA) will host the 4 th Young African ConneXions Annual Summit themed “Living the Legacy”, commemorating the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Howard University School of Business2600 6th Street NW from 1pm to 3pm.
The summit will feature Dr. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director, and UN Women Former Deputy President of South Africa, the African Diaspora Community, policy makers and civic leaders for a discussion around advocacy, volunteerism and community engagement.
The summit will be followed by a Mandela Day of Service on Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 8:00 am – 10 am. The event is being held in partnership with the South African Embassy in Washington DC embassy of, the Mayor’s Office of Volunteerism (Serve DC), Howard University and the Mandela Washington Fellows for Young African Leaders. Both events are free and open to the public.
